This workshop will teach fundamental principles of the oil-painting techniques that were first perfected in Italy in the 15th and 16th centuries.  Students will create a painting from scratch after a chosen image that each student would like to copy. They will create their image on a piece of birchwood veneered plywood or on a canvas if desired. They will gesso it, "stain" it, make a drawing of their chosen image, make an underpainting in the first session, and then learn to "glaze" it in the Venetian Renaissance technique of oil painting in the second session the week.

Artists will be required to bring their own Oil paintings, palette, prepared wood panel or canvas, and other required materials necessary for the workshop. The materials list and instructions will be given upon the closing of the due date.
